okay.

I'll confess.

A few days ago I saw a headline that read:
"Gul in landmark visit to Armenia"

the link led to this:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7602066.stm

however, my first thought was:
"What? Gul Dukat? Seriously??"

I kid you not.

Your result for The RPG Class Test...

Arcane Trickster

26% Combativeness, 67% Sneakiness, 68% Intellect, 42% Spirituality

Brilliant and sneaky: You are an Arcane Trickster!

Score! You have a prestige class. A prestige class can only be taken after you've fulfilled certain requirements. This may mean that you're an exceptionally talented person, but it probably doesn't.

Arcane Tricksters combine arcane magic with rogue skills and sensibilities. They use their magic to confuse their opponents or to augment their more mundane, roguish skills. If you thought it was annoying keeping an eye that that rogue, the Arcane Trickster is probably picking your pocket from the other side of the room.

Both smart and sneaky, you're probably the type of person that loves planning practical jokes... either that or knocking over banks.

Haven't posted in a while. Not sure why, life is just a bit boring right now, I suppose.

Have been watching American Idol. Am I the only one who's sick of Paula and Simon? And even, to an extent, of Ryan and Randy? They seem to have forgotten that the show is about the singers, not the judges, not the host. They spend so much time with their little 'in-jokes' and teasing each other and all. I'm sick of it. It's like they think the show is either a joke, in which case they need to pack it in and get another judge/host/whatever, or they think it's their showcase. Which, I suppose, it has become.

Everyone in the audience waits for their first chance to boo Simon. The more they boo, the meaner he gets. "I don't mean to be rude..." Well, yes, in fact, he does. I'm not saying he should sugarcoat his opinions, not in the slightest, good lord, then we'd have TWO PAULAS and I would have to kill myself. Ah, I don't know.

And speaking of Paula. Does she have a clue what she's doing? She has no opinion of her own, she just parrots Randy Jackson most of the time. She says the same things over and over, ad nauseum.

And speaking of over and over....DO NOT USE THE WORD 'RELEVENT' ANYMORE, NOT ANY OF YOU. Are yo listening to me? Once was okay. The second time was amusing. Now it's irritating.

And Ryan goads them all on, so he's in on the conspiracy. Seriously, I'm only a few more snarky in-jokes away from not watching anymore.

Now, the contestants. Too early to say much, I suppose. Danny Noriega is obnoxious, I hope he does not make the Top 12. I quite like the Aussie, Michael Johns, and quite a few of the other guys. Not so much any of the women. Little Miss Sunshine irritates the hell out of me. Brooke, I think?

My Top 12 of who's left?

Hmm...female. Carly, Ramiele, Amanda, Syesha, Asia'h, Kristy Lee
Male...Chikizie, David Archuleta, David Hernandez, Michael, Luke, David Cook

And who besides me thinks Luke Menard looks just a bit like Orlando Bloom? This fact, is, I think, good enough to keep him on the show. At least, for the happiness of my hormones, it is.

I love Wikipedia.

And the best part is the 'random page' link on the side menu.

Today's randomness:

"McIver Train Station is a Transperth train station 900 metres from Perth, in Western Australia, on the Armadale/Thornlie and Midland lines. "

"Put' is a town in the Tambov Oblast of Russia."

"Geum rivale, the water avens, is a flowering plant of the family Rosaceae."

"Oral history is a method of historical documentation, using interviews with living survivors of the time being investigated."

"Roskilde Fjord is the fjord north of Roskilde, Denmark, and is located at [show location on an interactive map] 55°50′00″N, 12°02′50″E."

Life at home has been hell for the past week, for reasons I won't get into.

Finished Goblin's Quest, was a good read, had a few laugh-out-loud moments.

Have started re-reading a classic and a favorite, The Color of Magic, by Terry Pratchett. Honor Among Enemies, David Weber, on my PDA, and The Tin Man of Oz as well.

Anime currently watching: Fate/stay night, on the recommendation of my 10 year-old son. I think he liked it more than I am, but it's okay. Finished Samurai Champloo. Absolutely loved it. Immediately ordered Jin and Mugen and Fuu action figures to add to my ninja collection, though Fuu is not a ninja. And as point of fact, neither are Jin and Mugen, being samurai rather than ninja. But hell, it's my collection.

Also ordered an Ed Elric/Roy Mustang wall scroll to hang next to my Kakashi wall scroll.

Yes, I am over 40. Can you tell?

(I wonder why they don't make Alan Rickman/Viggo Mortensen wall scrolls?)

MRI done. Have to wait for the results. (Thanks to [info]writer_in_black for giving me the correct term for whatever-it-is!! Turns out I wasn't all that far off. Hello back!)

Am watching HP and the Order of the Phoenix, letting it play in the background. Am I the only one who found this line from Mrs. Weasley slightly, er, risque?

"Just because you're allowed to do magic now does not mean you have to whip your wands out for everything!"

Cracks me up every time.

I could have slept late today, two or three hours, but DH was snoring to beat the band, and I ended up getting up at my usual too-early-ness. Sad, that.

Anyone else up?

Took daughter's knee to the orthopedic doc. Made daughter come with it, as knee is somewhat shy. He said it was (and I'm using Hooked on Phonics here...) conjugal Malaysia. Which is not, apparently, people having sex somewhere in the East, but something do with tendons and bones and ligaments all growing at different rates. (should have made him write it down, yes?) (daughter said, but mom, you nodded like you knew what he was saying!)

However, he thinks there may be more at work than just that whatever-its-real-name-is, so we waiting for a pre-cert for an MRI.

He was quite rude, really. Made me and daughter crack up with laughter whenever he turned his back to us.

So she's in a knee immobilizer, and yay! I get my cane back.

Most of the storm seems to have slipped by to the north. But I'm
sitting in the living room right now listening to the sleet. The
driveway looks like a inch or so of ice is on it. I'm supposed to go
to work for 7 a.m. and I'm wondering if I'll make it in. Haven't seen
a plow go by yet, but I've only been up about 15 minutes. Hopefully a
sand truck will go through.

The problem is that they're probably plowing and sanding the main
roads, but our road is always left until after the storm passes, in
general. In a bad snowstorm, the plows might make a few passes during
the storm, but this isn't a snowstorm, at least not here. So if I
could make it to Highland Ave, a total of about five hundred yards,
I'd probably be fine, but honestly? Sometimes I can't make it that
far. We'll see. I won't even try until about 6:30 or so.

Did all my wrapping yesterday. I couldn't find my gift tags, so I
simply wrapped everyone's gifts in different paper so I'd remember
later which was to who, heh.

Ah, well. I'm a bit nauseous right now, so I think I'll put off
breakfast for now. I have time for an episode or two of Samurai
Champloo....

I think I'm going to go to the casino tomorrow. It's one of my rare days off, and I generally spend my free Wednesdays doing What I Should Be Doing. You know, grocery shopping, errands, phone calls, bill paying.

But I've been on a lucky streak lately, and I don't get those very often. In fact, this is probably only the second one ever. So I shall take my winnings from the last time we went, all $90 of it, and go by myself.

Wanted company, but couldn't work out the schedules with anyone, so what the hell. I'll go once the kids get on the bus, and be back, hopefully, before they get off. Possibly richer, heh.

Oh, and HP5 came today in the mail....must go Snapify myself.

I finished Nose For Trouble, very good, loved the beagle muchly.

Started Goblin Quest. Ordered and received a copy of The Eyre Affair, by Jasper Fforde, so naturally I opened it to read a few lines. (Don't you?) And found myself turning pages, which bodes well.

And discovered a new manga I must keep reading. Samurai Deeper Kyo, read half of the first volume in the hospital whilst daughter was getting her knee x-rayed.

Was told by the lab techs who drew her blood that I was a 'cool mom' because I read manga. Didn't have the heart to tell her I'm the only one in the family who does. Was basking in the glow of cool.

Hopefully we shall find out why said knee is bothering her.

Just finished re-reading Green Rider and First Rider's Call, both by Kristin Britain. All so I could read the beautiful, BIG new copy of her latest, The High King's Tomb. Which I did. Which was excellent. Get thee to a bookstore and purchase. So good. (horsies!!!)

High King's Tomb was the first book I read from my huge sport bag of books I brought back from World Fantasy. (I cannot believe how many books I bought...never mind the free ones!)

So I have this BAG of books. I have my older, still massive PILE of books. I have a smallish, three shelf BOOKCASE of books. These are my TBR books. (to-be-read)

So from the PILE I choose...A Nose For Trouble, by Doranna Durgin. Baaawhoooo!!

On the PDA - Fire and Dust, by James Gardner. (you can read it for free, here) It's a hoot!

And I have taken out of the BAG, and brought upstairs to begin whilst putting children to sleep, Goblin Quest, by Jim C. Hines.

(Shogun has been relegated to the bathroom sink. I'm having a hard time getting into it. I quite liked the others of his I read, years past, and Shogun is supposed to be his best-so why do I not really enjoy it??)

Manga? I'm reading Naruto, Prince of Tennis, Hikaro no Go, Shaman King, Fullmetal Alchemist, Death Note, Bleach. (Well, lots more, really, I love the stuff, I truly do. I'm going to need a new bookcase soon.)

Scored Live Free, Die Hard at the grocery store if you can believe it. I just love John McClane, don't you? A wise crack for every bullet shot at him. (and that's a lot of wisecracks)
